Following the Eséka train accident which left close to 79 persons dead and 600 injured on 21 October 2016, the train transport company, Camrail, declared primarily responsible by government investigation, advises that it continues to register the victims and beneficiaries, to assert their rights and compensate them on a case by case basis.
Moreover, to ensure that all the people concerned are informed of these arrangements and its availability, Camrail, subsidiary of French Bolloré, declares having initiated 3 calling campaigns which enabled the company to contact a thousand people and continues this process to enable all affected families to submit their claim.
“Camrail particularly wants to reassure victims and their families, that any information regarding an eventual limitation, in other words a deadline, beyond which Camrail would refuse to provide compensation, is fake”, specifies the train company. It adds that, all those duly registered with the train company will have all the time necessary to submit their application for compensation. In this respect, information desks, qualified personnel have been posted in train stations.
