Very good order situation in the areas of Completion and Maintenance & Modification
Kai-Stefan Roepke, Vice President Commercials, and Thomas Decher,
Vice President Operations, are leading the division “VIP & Special Mission Aircraft Services” with immediate effect. Walter Heerdt, who has been responsible for the division to date, went into retirement
mid-May.
The change of leadership is taking place at a time when Lufthansa Technik’s order situation is very good. In recent weeks, the company has signed contracts with two government customers for major
modifications on three Airbus A340 aircraft and one A319, along with the completion of an A321. Further contracts are expected to be agreed in the coming weeks.
“I thank Walter Heerdt for the excellent work that he has done in various positions at Lufthansa Technik over the past decades,” said Constanze Hufenbecher, Member of the Lufthansa Technik Executive
Board for Finance, Corporate Services and VIP. “As head of our VIP and Special Mission Aircraft activities, he was very successful in adapting this business area to the challenges of a volatile market in
recent years. At the same time, I know that the division is in the best possible hands now with his successors, Kai-Stefan Roepke and Thomas Decher. The two of them have many years of experience in this business area that is needed in order to further extend Lufthansa Technik’s leading position as a provider of technical services in the VIP, special mission and government market. We will therefore be
continuing to invest in this area and in our Hamburg site.”
The company is also in a very good position for the coming months in the areas of maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) and supply services for narrow and wide-body aircraft not only for private and VIP
customers, but especially also in the government and special mission segment. The demand for technical support in the latter two cases is playing an increasingly important role for the company. In the last
years Lufthansa Technik was able to position itself as leading MRO provider in this special area.
With more than 60 years of MRO experience and a global network of more than 30 sites close to the customers, Lufthansa Technik is able to integrate a diverse range of systems and components in commercial and VIP aircraft. This includes, in addition to physical installation, the complete range of work required by aviation and licensing regulations, material supplies for modification, the
integration of diverse high-end components such as, for example, the WLAN Access Point, material supplies for regular flight operations, and the repair of defective components.
