Rabat – The Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences (UM6SS) has launched a brand new university program devoted to preventative medicine and non-drug therapies.
The new degree program developed in collaboration with Pileje foundation, aims to provide practitioners the keys, tools and motivation to integrate into the world of preventative medicine.
The one-year program consists of 100 hours of training in preventive approaches related to nutrition, physical activities, chronic diseases, stress and anxiety, while taking account social, economic and cultural dimensions of treatment.
The program, which targets practicing doctors as part of their continuing education, was launched on March 4 and will continue until September 10.
“Awareness of the influence of lifestyles on health has changed the approach of medicine called ‘curative’, giving a more important place to preventive medicine,” the university said in a statement.
The UM6SS also mentioned that this university degree is the first of its kind in Morocco and is an opportunity to rethink health care and develop more collaborative and balanced relationships between doctors and patients.
