In the coming days, Cameroon’s telecommunication regulatory agency will initiate a campaign to identify telecommunication equipment (landline and mobile phones, smartphones tablets, decoders, wifi…) and verify their certification. This was revealed in a statement signed by Philémon Zoo Zame, director of the agency, on January 23, 2018.
The director promises that sellers and importers who are found to have violated the provision, which enjoins them to certify their equipment before releasing them on the market, will be sanctioned. He also reminds that the certification is to guarantee that the essential requirements are complied with and the equipment compliant with the applicable standards.
Let’s note that the equipment are certified by the regulatory agency on the basis of samples send by sellers and importers. If the tests on those samples are successful, the certification is delivered.
