Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC), which develops a 400MW dam project, in Central Cameroon, has just given CFA1.1 billion to residents of Ndokoa, impacted by the project. This, as initial compensation, official sources revealed.
”Besides the checks, we are giving today, we will ensure that the compensated have better living standards. We will give them replacement lands and, we will provide technical training and enhanced seeds”, Olivier Flambard, NHPC’s managing director, said to the Quotidien gouvernemental.
Construction works for the Nachtigal dam, which will be Cameroon’s biggest power generating infrastructure, are expected to start during the first semester of 2018, subjected to the realization of financial closing which is challenged by some requirements of funders.
